UPDATE: The fix will cause inability to read mails.
I couldn’t let go of Google Chrome, so I checked bug reports and I found a temporary fix to the problem. For my future reference until Chrome devs fix the issue, here’s what needs to be done:
- Right Click on the Google Chrome shortcut (Desktop or whereever you place it).
- Left Click on Properties.
- On the Target box, add the following line at the end:
--user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/525.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1 Safari/525.19"
Therefore, if you are running Chrome in Windows, your target should look like:
C:\path\to\chrome.exe --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/525.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1 Safari/525.19"
Close all instances of Chrome and open the browser again using the shorcut prepared above.

Since my thought (for an entry) escaped me, I’ll post a simple malware removal tutorial.
A few years ago, we called them annoying pop-ups and now we call them MALWARE. Virus is no longer trendy because it does not rake in revenue; malware does because it mostly contains advertising.
If you are a careless netizen and clicking on any pop-up that may appear in front of you, then you are the best malware victim. IT administrators should block all sites except for the ones that the company would need if their users do not abide by the usage policy. In the office, we are too scared to even use Google because internet usage is strictly prohibited unless needed and we can’t hardly slack because there’s too much work to be done.
One night I was victimized by a malware in my home PC. The site I used to frequent had a hidden malware injector through PDF. I’ve been removing malwares for others, so I’ll share the secret with everyone.
- Download Hijackthis & SmitFraudFix (Google them)
- Install Hijackthis.
- Add an exception in your AntiVirus (add both softwares above).
- Run Hijackthis & fix processes you don’t recognize.
- Restart your computer in Safe Mode.
- Run SmitFraudFix (option 2) and clean registry when prompted.
- Restart your computer in Normal Mode.
- Done!

I’ve been reading about Google’s Chrome release and I had to try it. The first thing I did was to check how get_browser() would call this new browser. I have no knowledge whatsover of how Chrome was developed, so I was surprised to know that PHP calls it a Safari.

As I was checking blogs off my blogroll, I noticed that my ads are McCain oriented. Data mining capability of Google is really amazing. I don’t have to say which party I tend to lean, yet it knows. I’m not a registered voter and I don’t think I’ll be, but I’m openly a Republican. I guess it’s in my nature to go against the grain because I live in an urban area and urbanites tend to be democrats.
Especially in this year’s election. I think that the democratic party is a joke. They should have found someone more effective because McCain is a tough contender. I think if they had Kerry run again, they may have a chance. I won’t make any prediction save one. Hollywood will vote Obama because the vocal these celebrities about supporting Obama, they think that the masses will watch their movies. If you have Pamela Anderson screaming she’s voting Obama, I think you have to think who to vote again. It may be better to vote for Perot if he runs again.
Before you comment on my opinion, it is solely mine and I did not do any research on each candidate’s platform or issues. These are solely my hunch based on the years I’ve “kind of” observe these men.

A new Staples store recently opened in front of our office building. Thanks to them I can easily get free WiFi. I don’t have to make too much effort and position my self accordingly in order to receive WiFi connection — the force is strong. Social networking sites are prohibited, but I don’t really care as long as I can surf the web fast and free. Messaging system is also prohibited, but I hardly do that. All I need is an access to Google and this site. Anyway, it’s a nice hot summer day. Thanks Staples!

I feel cocky tonight, so I’ll present you with deceiving stats for this web site. I intentionally cropped the graphs to have 400px width so that they won’t mess up the layout of the web site. Giving, of course, the sample containing the highest peak.
If you see a graph, do not conclude immediately. You need more information in order to understand the situation — the behavior of the sample. Statistics is widely used now to give us false information. Every morning you will hear these information in the news. Researchers taking down stats and most of us make facts out of these samples. That’s why I hate the medical field so very much because of its dependence to stats. (more…)

Everex has unveiled an Eee PC competitor with its CloudBook. Scheduled to be available at Walmart.com only starting January 25, 2008 at an affordable $399. This is the same price as my Eee PC 4G, except that it has better specifications. The CloudBook also weighs 2lbs with a 9-inch screen and has 9 times more of gigabyte storage space than my 4G. It is pre-installed with gOS which I think rocks.
I’m a little disappointed that I just bought an Eee PC and a new interesting machine cos out. I’ll have to wait for reviews, maybe for the next generation of CloudBook before I decide to get my hands on it.

9 Inches, 2 pounds, 5 hours of battery life. Surf, email, blog, IM, Skype, compute. Cloud computing makes it simple and easy for everyone.
Based on the latest gOS Rocket operating system, the ultra-mobile Everex PC comes with popular applications from Google, Mozilla, Skype, OpenOffice.org and more.
Find your $399 CloudBook at Walmart.com beginning 1/25/08
Additional Preinstalled and Linked Software
