Nikon D40
September 18th, 2008
Today, I received my new digital camera from Nikon — the DSLR model D40. I had to pay a wee more than a usual compact digital cameras, but so far after taking a few snaps of Lexie’s 1st birthday (official celebration) I’m impressed. To the curious ones, I spent $385 for it from NewEgg. I’m not no more than an amateur when it comes to photography. Owning this gadget may indulge me into the craft a tad… just a tad. So here’s my early observation of the camera and my thoughts toward the possibilities.
Unlike your ultrahandy compact digital cameras, the user uses an optical viewfinder to take photos with DSLRs. I find it better this way because you become more intimate with the subject and the camera is steadier. Also with the D40 (and most DSLR), I can take snap after snap easily because of the speedy shutter speed. So moments are better preserved.
I will be practicing these coming days to familiarize with the new gadget so that I can publish share-worthy photos here.
