Christmas Presents

I went Christmas shopping today. It was a breeze since I found everything in one store. I’m almost done except for my grandmother. What I don’t like about gift giving is the wrapping bit. It’s too tedious and I can’t ask my mother to do it for me because it’ll ruin the surprise. So I have to do it myself. I think they charge you for gift wrapping in the malls. In the Philippines, gift wrapping is free and they ought to be because there are so many salesperson on the floor (which reminds me to blog about how many salesperson in stores in the Philippines).

Anyway, I have my presents manly wrapped. I tend not to bother how good it looks because it will be thrown away anyway. So I don’t pay too much attention on details. Just make sure it’s tidy enough to be presentable under the Christmas tree.

Backup

Today we live in the world of information. Every bit of information is significant in whatever we do everyday. Obviously, we need storage for these data. Though resources are scarce, I still believe that we have enough storage to store what information we have. The problem, I believe, that is very disturbing is how secure our storage is. I may be wrong since I don’t religiously follow technological advances, I think that there is no perfect way to backup data. Data is bound to be lost one way or another and it is unpredictable when to lose them. It doesn’t matter how often or regularly you make backup of your data, there still is a window of opportunity to lose data. In addition, backups are not always in working condition because we don’t test these backups.

I am a victim of data loss. I didn’t lose much because I don’t have much. My host’s servers crashed and all data were lost. The recent backup they made was corrupted, thus I had to use an old backup.

Projects

I’ve been busy lately. Having project after project is tiresome. I’m working alone training, monitoring, bug fixing, and all the slave work in the office. It’s fun doing projects if you like them and I do enjoy the project I’m working on. I really start to be more organized. I don’t digress on my research and I work in a systematic manner. That way, I can touch up a few personal project at home conveniently because I’m in the mood. In a few moments, I will be updating this WP.
